I enjoyed this novel, but it kept reminding me of a much better novel -- the irritatingly under-titled Foreign Affairs, by Alison Lurie -- and also a much more boring one -- Ahab's Wife, by whoever wrote Ahab's Wife (I never finished that one). It was a real page-turner, even if the first half far excelled the second.
