This book wasn't one I would have picked up to read of my own accord (I bought it and read it for the Vaginal Fantasy Hangout group) but it was written superbly, I'm not overly keen on short stories as a whole but these were indeed written really well so that for the most part I enjoyed them, (there were a few which I was like but then what happened, why do we not have more information - but that is mainly because I enjoy long novels the best because I like to absorb all the information involved). The overall theme of the book (Cthulhu / HP Lovecraft's 'verse) is not something I was familiar with before reading this so I was slightly confused at points but it was very interesting and I enjoyed reading this anthology. The essays at the end of the book were also a joy to read. I've rated this as 4 stars almost purely because I am pretty much indifferent about Lovecraft's world, I don't hate it but I don't overly love it either, the quality of writing and how it is set out including the essays and the illustrations are fantastic.
