really liked it

Henry James is becoming one of those authors I am starting to love to hate. Every time I finish one of his books, I could kick myself. Why did I put myself through the agony of becoming invested in his characters only to have them end so dismally? This was probably the worst, because the ending just didn't make sense!! It was as if James just decided "I've written enough. I'm going to end...right here...right now." Almost in mid-sentence. Stupid, stupid ending. Afterwards, I even had to Google some commentaries, just to see what the experts said about this ending. Only stuff about sexual repression and women's lives in Victorian times. Ending still didn't make sense.
