it was amazing

Loved it, loved it! I almost did not read this series because the Steampunk genre did not seem like something I would love, but I did. It is rare to find epic series that is so consistently good, exciting and rich. How does Ms. Buroker do this? Well developed characters? Check! Likeable characters? Check! Even the ruthless assassin...I want Amaranthe to have a happily ever after with Sicarius, whatever that may be, but I am also enjoying Sicarius' slow 'awakening' also. Ms. Buroker even manages to survive my pet peeve for banter in fantasy novels. The banter is in character and not too modern for the time frame, and it does not appear as an afterthought, as it often does in fantasy. Not many authors can pull this off without being annoying. I slowed down reading at the end of the book because I was so sorry to leave these people.
