Really, Bloom, in all this tangle of erudition, touches on a point I find fascinating. No, not his, um, adoration of William Shakespeare. (If only the young Bloom could have attended the anime convention I saw last weekend, wearing his favorite Falstaff costume.) What I appreciate in Bloom's idea is the common impulse in younger poet and Precursor. And the complexities in any poet to call this "originality."
