In the past when I have picked up a Kay Scarpetta book, I find her to be like an old friend - pleasant to talk to and easy to understand. However, I am wondering if this series is at the end because I just didn't like her in this book. The characters were flat and I really wasn't into the book like I have been in the past. It did pick up at the end but I didn't feel like I got a good explanation of how they figured out the crime - it almost felt like Cornwell had her required number of pages in and she wanted it to be done.

I was shocked to hear what Marino was paying for a therapist in a book that was written in 2005! If Marino was seeing a crummy therapist and paying $330 for a 55 minute session, he needs to shop around!!
