it was amazing

TW: domestic abuse

Just finished this and I'm absolutely blown away. All characters - especially in Evelyn's life story - were so well fleshed out. Some you disliked but most were just flawed humans like all of us. This was a fascinating fictional, but very believable, account of the life of a female Hollywood star in the 1950‐1980: the things you do and give up to get to the top and how much it costs you to stay there. It's also a great story what makes a family, even the unconventional ones. Last thing: A major plot twist (trying to avoid spoilers) made me aware of how much my perspective is coloured by me being a middle-aged, middle-class, white, cis hetero European woman, because I just didn't see *that* coming. I need to work on that.
