I enjoyed reading Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore, but the ending fell flat for me. The mysterious bookstore, its enigmatic owner, the odd customers - the setup was very intriguing. The narrator was likeable, as were the friends introduced throughout the book. As a book fan and proofreader, I enjoyed the fascination with books, book stores, and typesetting. But I confess I really didn't understand the conclusion, so I'm left a little deflated and unsatisfied. I'd rate most of the book a 4 to 4.5, but the ending a 2.5-3.
