liked it
bookshelves: verse-novels

This is a bit lower than I usually read, but it was good. I especially liked Woodson's use of haiku and other forms, as many YA poetic novels miss the opportunity to explore non-free verse poetry. I found the discussion of religious faith to be refreshing in a book targeted to middle school students. I wish I'd found it more compelling, the voice didn't hook me.
