really liked it

I was afraid one of Wallace's many acolytes would do a DFW bio in the man's own (predominant) style, a la the several faux-"gonzo" Hunter Thompson bios, but fortunately that isn't what happened here. This was remarkably evenhanded, offering something to all of its various constituencies: interesting and insightful biographical details for the hardcore DFW nerds, and astute summations of his work and its place in the modern canon for a less partisan audience. My only issue with it (also noted by other reviewers) is that the treatment of the last decade or so of Wallace's life seemed somewhat cursory in comparison to the rest of the book, but that also seemed somewhat appropriate to the subject matter.
