bookshelves: book-boner

If Gail Carriger can shake up the torpid YA genre full of swooning "heroines" who need the hawt-boy-du-jour to make life worth living, then I'm in. Then again, The Parasol Protectorate breathed life into a genre that had long since forgotten how to laugh at itself.
