I've always liked stories about the Golem, and Wisnewski's detailed papercuttings fascinate me. Combine the two, and you've got an award-winning book.

Ronyell I loved this book too!!! I thought that the images were pretty creepy, but they were pretty effective too!

Krista the Krazy Kataloguer This is actually the second Golem book to win a Caldecott. The first one, The Golem: a Jewish Legend by Beverly Brodsky, was a Caldecott honor book, and has been out of print for years, which I don't understand. Another good Golem story is The Golem by Barbara Rogatsky, which is not a picture book and is illustrated by my favorite, Trina Schart Hyman.

Ronyell Hmmm... I never seen the original Golem before. That sounds interesting and it is sad that it is out of print. It seems that so many good books are going out of print.
