it was amazing
bookshelves: horror, historical-novel
Read in December, 2008

Due to our shared interest in WWII, many years ago my Father sent me "The Rape of Nanking". When I saw this book on the shelf while shopping at Barnes & Noble it grabbed my attention for that reason. As soon as I finished CELL, I picked up this book and could barely put it down. I was hard pressed to decide which bookshelf to put it on: Horror or Historical Novel. In either category it is one of the best I've ever read. It is, without a doubt, the best Historical Novel I've ever read. I was thrilled by this book, I was scared, I learned new things, I was fascinated by the characters - all of them. I loved the words she used and the way she put them together. Absolutely fantastic book but be warned there are also parts of it which may turn your stomach and make you want to throw it away. mmmm mmmmm good.
