really liked it
bookshelves: relationship-parent-child, subversive-child, not-the-us

Smart, slightly subversive, likable heroine's story of childhood through the point she left India. I found the descriptions of her father's and aunt's love along with those of her mother's mistreatment (perhaps not fully intended, but mistreatment none the less) striking.
