This book had a lot of great creepy moments, but a total WTF ending. I mean, seriously, W...T....F? From the set up of the book, I gathered that it was shocking at the time to use children in horror stories and these children were as creepy at the twins in the Shining. I found the barrier of the language kept me from relating too strongly, but that could just have to do with my modern sensibilities. I will reiterate that the ending was seriously WTF and almost like a throw-away. I also was curious that he didn't didn't return to the framing device of the friend telling this story in a parlor.
