it was amazing

I read this for my book club. When I started it, I was afraid that it would be one of those suffering sort of books. You know the ones where you have to journey through Hell to earn your way out, but you're glad you read it when it's over. But no, I was pleasantly surprised. There was much adversity, but the Heroine was optimistic and thankful for the little she had. It was filled with love, humanity, and hope, as well as pain and inhumanity. The story is about her seeking a better life for her family through learning to read. Her unlikely teacher is a mystery that unfolds as the story progresses. I truly enjoyed the journey!
