Do you like Gruesome and cringy in your horror? Then this will most likely grab you the way it did me!
Let's begin. Our main character, Miles, finds what looks to be a current picture of his nephew Ian on his sister's social media...but Ian is dead...or is he? That's only a very brief taste because I want you to read this book for yourself! It was a book complete with haunted house vibes, albeit the setting was a boy's reformatory. I also enjoyed learning more about Miles' inner turmoil as the book progresses. He is haunted by many events current and not so current.
There is so much going on in this book! I thought I figured it out a few times but then the floor would drop out and I was back to scrabbling around an obscure reformatory called St. Hamelin's with Miles, the creepy boys and staff, and the rats, the many rats.... I was twitchy reading this in bed and not many books can invoke that reaction. So fellow horror people, I suggest you read this one!
