I absolutely loved this series. Princess Cimorene is so NOT the typical princess. She wants to learn archery, magic, cooking and other interesting things--but because she is a princess, her royal parents refuse to allow her to continue learning any of these "unseemly" activities. Cimorene decides to take a bold step and offer to become a dragon's princess--much to the surprise of the dragon--and the consternation of all the princes who try to rescue her. Dragons, witches, dastardly warlocks, and a host of other fairy-realm characters have brought me back tot this book (and series) again and again. Part of the fun? Seeing if you can recognize the fairy tales some of these characters come from.
