really liked it
bookshelves: historical-fiction

Another great Lehane historical novel. This story revolves around the Prohibition era, the nice and not-so-nice individuals involved, and the underworld corruption. Lehane has a definite knack of developing the characters and makes this another page-turner. Even though at first I didn't like the main characcter, Joe Coughlin, by the end of the story he had me on pins and needles. Would he be taken out by other over-powering gangsters or remain the head of his ever-growing empire? As like other Lehane novels such as The Given Day, the reader becomes a part of history and lives through the daily struggles of the time period. I had an advance readers copy, but when this book hits the shelves, be sure to pick up your copy.

Pat I didn't know it was already out. Love his books, so I will add to my IPAD for our trip to Scandinavia. Thanks for review, Tricia!

Tricia Douglas Sounds like a wonderful trip you're planning. My relatives were from Sweden and some day I'd love to visit the towns where the Erickson side of the family came from. Tomorrow I'm going in for knee replacement surgery. After that's done, I'll be running all over the place!
