really liked it

I don’t read this author often and honestly I’m not sure how this paperback came to be sitting in my pile of books, but it was the perfect escape for a spring break on my deck. The siege of Leningrad on one side and fraught mother-daughter tensions on the other - all woven together beautifully. What I loved the best are the daughters, now women, searching for their own identities at mid-life. Richly satisfying.

Dianne Nice review, Alena! This is my favorite of the few Hannah books I’ve read. She usually treads a little too close to melodrama for me, but this was very well done.

Tami This was one of my favorite Kristen Hannah novels.

Alena Hi ladies. Thanks for the comments. I know what you’re saying about the melodrama. For me, she’s a good choice when I don’t want to work so hard as a reader but still want satisfaction. I love the Russian background of this one.
