Grab a box of tissues because if you don't tear up while reading this story, you have never loved anyone or anything in your life. I don't come from a military background but my husband was a police officer for 20 years so I do understand the "brotherhood" of loyalty and trust and determination. This is the story of a family ~ a traditional family of a father, mother and 2 children. It is also the story of the work family ~ in this case, a squad of people who work with Black Hawk helicopters. The squad is called up within a few days notice to serve in the war zone for a year. It is the first time they have been called and they are eager to serve their country. But in this case, two of the Black Hawk pilots are women ~ wives, mothers, best friends since they were 20 years old. They live next door to each other. They have always been together throughout their marriages, births of their children and now in the military. They leave for their assignment with eagerness and honor and the plan to keep their real missions away from their families. The main character has come from a terrible childhood and made it her life's work to always look for the positive side of life. She thinks by doing so that she is protecting herself and her family. But there has been trouble in her marriage and when she leaves; it is nearly at a breaking point. What happens everything. She and her family have to face the toughest battle of their lives.
