** spoiler alert ** Started out as halfway decent character study, though highly feminine stereotyped, that soon deteriorated into mush. Movies seem to have to end with a big event and hollywood probably finds it easy to make that a complex violent shootout. This book should have stayed in the character realm and not gone hollywood with a rather crappy end. As if a Jennifer Weiner book ended with a car chase. As a result, the main characters didnt make any sort of rich changes, but now know how to kill(!) and became very flat. The mystery portion was also rather dull. Still I did read through it fast and rather engrossed for quite a awhile so maybe some of her other books are pretty great?

Did not make it into great-until-end because that is for books that try to wrap it up but i just dont like the outcome, like Cold Mountain.
