It's been years since I've read this one, and I haven't finished the series, so I need to go back and re-read, but it was an amazing experience reading about the POW camp during WW2. I pretty much sobbed while I was reading.

It's about a fictional family experiencing life in the 1930-1940s in Salt Lake City, UT -- and how things change drastically when WW2 hits. You get to experience it through different character's eyes, and it is really well written so that you get to know and fall in love with each one.

The history is great and the story is very inspiring.
