An interesting novel about creation. The creator (persumably mr. G but is actually unnamed in the novel) creates time, space and matter. He is advised by his fellow immortals Uncle Deva and Aunt Penelope and the devil (Bahour and his henchmen). The creator is benign but un-involved once the universe starts rolling (more of an observer of how his creation works out than actively involved in the minutia). Bahour, has his character flaws but generally has the best lines arguing for human freedom (of which evil and suffering is a necessary consequence). The creator is not perfect, immutable, or static.

Lightman's ideas about creation blend a number of religious ideas with philosophical and science. As a novel this is not too exicting, but it is written in a light humorous style and was a fun read.
