** spoiler alert ** A boy wants to shoot a bear, but when he finds a bear cub, it turns out to be his friend. The bear eats everything in sight, so finally he has to get rid of it. First, he tries to drop it off far away, but it comes back. Then he father tells him he knows what he must do. The boy gets his gun, and as he is putting a bullet in it, the bear smells something, runs off, and they get caught in a trap. It turns out to be a trap for the zoo--the bear winds up in a zoo, and the last picture shows the bear visiting.

I didn't like the way the zoo is depicted. It is a very old-fashioned, cagey sort of zoo. However, this book was written long ago, so I can forgive it for not being modern.
