Those Who Are Lost
Those Who Are Searching
Those Who Are Left Behind

Written in three parts, this award winning novel is composed of a series of letters written in a stream of consciousness narrative that are interlinked, because some of the letters are read, but not by their intended recipient, fou d between the pages of a book or dug out of a bin. They are a kind of confession, and excavate a depth of feeling that is raw, that traverses memory, hurts and an indifferent ability to hurt, love, sorrow, longing, and an abuse of kindness, a deterioration of the psyche.
Some of the letters are written to a family member, others to a lover, others nameless. They are all experiencing a deep loss having either been removed from all they've known or been connected to, or have been abandoned. Displaced, at a loss, rootless, untethered. Like the roll of the dice they were born into a place and era where stability, home and belonging would be denied them.

He recounts some of his past, the trauma of his mother putting him on a train age 8, sending him to his Uncle. Of never seeing her again. Resentment in him. He writes of his unkindness to this woman, it never ruffles her, she does not abandon him.
A man finds the letter stuck inside a directory in a hotel room. Tries to figure it out."
