really liked it

Wow! This is quite a memoir. Neglect, suspected mental illness, definite alcoholism, poverty, instability, this book has it all and more. The Walls family is headed by an intelligent, but alcoholic father and an artistic but detached mom. The 4 kids literally have to fend for themselves much of the time and are exposed to all things most parents try to shield their kids from.
I wanted to cry at times, laugh a few and in the end marveled that the majority of the kids came out of their childhood with ambition and careers that supported them and their families. I also was amazed at the love and loyalty shown by all the family members. Proof once more than love is the answer. (No cheesy reference to England Dan and John Ford Coley intended).
This book will be with me for a long time.
