it was amazing

I LOVED this debut novel. The plot is nothing new (poor white trash young girl trying to overcome molestation, an inept mom, etc), but the way the story is told is amazing. Rory's voice is excellent, and the author uses unique conventions to narrate the story. I am completely surprised this is a first novel because it represents an experienced writer. Nothing cliched here; the story is heartbreaking, hopeful, and honest.
