Zzzz

The whole time I was reading this novel, it read like Maureen Johnson got cocky with her abilities as a writer and the whole story was a self indulgence for her quirkiness and ultra hip references to Harry Potter and Morrissey. It was missing the emotional connection of her previous novels and it just felt like a literary flexing of the muscles that didn't exist. Also this could have worked as a stand alone novel since most of the main central conflicts were resolved and stretching it out is just a quick money grab, nothing more.
