I enjoyed this book. I love the gardens, the food, the restrained and magical characters. A family of earthy women live in a small town under a magical apple tree. This tree tosses apples at a person and will show them their future. With such a perilous tree in their garden the family builds a iron fence to contain the capricious tree and its apples.
the book centers on the magical talents and the love lives of sisters in this family- it is taught, spare, anguished, and ultimately redemptive in its tone.
