A few of Austin Kleon's (of newspaper blackout poem fame) 10 things nobody told you about being creative:

2. Don't wait until you know who you are to get started.
6. The Secret: Do good work and share it with people.
8. Be nice. (The world is a small town.)
10. Creativity is subtraction.

If you're worried about the title, Kleon gives you this chart:

Good Theft vs. Bad Thef
Honor --Degrade
Study --Skim
Steal from --Steal from
many --one
Credit --Plagarize
Transform --Imitate
Remix --Rip off

Definitely a book I'll be sharing with my students in bits and pieces appropriate for the 5th grade creative mind. (most of it, but not all of it)
