I don't think I've ever read a book structured quite like this one. I thought I'd have to slog through the anecdotal meat of it, but ended up really digging the reading process (I think that's where the detection of the novel comes in). Once I finished I was fully convinced of the importance and malleability of basically everything, even if it was ultimately unimportant. And I wanted to go to Mexico, sort of. Or never go there.
