Read 2 times. Last read March 11, 2010.

I think this book rates 4 starts for information. There are thorough descriptions, plenty of illustrations, and excellent charts at the end. The information is easy to understand and he covers everything from extending the growing season to composting. I originally read a library copy, then had to buy one for myself to use as a reference.

On the other hand, it probably only rates a 2 or 3 for 'readability'. He seems like a nice guy, but he is a little bit too enthusiastic - it reads like an infomercial. It's a little bit hard to take him seriously.

I've tried this once without success. I think my garden needed more water than I was giving it. We'll try again this year and see how it goes ...

Original review (after April 2007 read):
Excellent book on gardening. He gives a lot of good explanations of how to do it. Unfortunately, I tried it last summer and didn't get good results. I may need to go back and re-read it.
