I have to say this one of my least favorite Dessen books. Remy is the troubled young lady for this story. Her musician father left before she was born and her mother has gone through a series of husbands. All of this has lead Remy to believe that nothing lasts, not even love. She and her friends have a pretty sarcastic edge and I had a hard time connecting to her character. In fact, I kind of disliked her for most of the book. Despite her dislike of musicians, Remy finds herself interested in Dexter, a musician, who is not at all her type. The band mates are the usual quirky characters I expect from Dessen, but they were a little underdeveloped. While the character’s growth is usually more of a focus than the romance, I found myself dissatisfied with Remy and Dexter’s relationship. My final verdict would be rent it from the library.
