My first Christie. Being a lifelong mystery fan, I figured it was time. Even if this book is steeped in racism, anti-Semitism, sexism, and classism -- even this "revised" edition. I will say, I did not predict the whodunit, so that was refreshing.

Overall, though, meh. Mainly because the story felt more concerned with impressing readers with its cleverness than its characters, setting, atmosphere. Perhaps I waited too late in life to read her for the first time? At any rate, I plan to read at least one from the Poirot series before I conclude my exploration of Christie's works.

Annette I grew up on mysteries! I am a Miss Marple fan so maybe try one of those? Poirot is too pompous for me & the other stories have left me feeling meh.

Thanks for the tip, Annette! I'll try a Miss Marple first.
