did not like it

Very reminiscent of Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse novels, but not as good. Elizabeth Phoenix, the protagonist here, has psychic abilities and encounters with beserkers, shape shifters, and the like; but she is almost entirely reactive. For this reason she isn't very interesting and, since her back-story isn't developed, we don't care about her either. In a note to the reader on the back of the book, the author describes the work as "scary an sexy, as well as funny." I have to say that I found this book to be lacking all of these characteristics.
