This is a typical Stephen King book.

Let me explain.

The book starts strong, introduces characters, drops a few of them, then moves on. Keep up or fall behind. The writing is solid, always exciting, drawing you in. There are throwbacks to the earlier works (most obviously IT), and this works out nicely. The main character is driven by his own motivations, which won't always make sense to everyone else.

About the ending.

I was unhappy with the ending to this book. It finished on a strange note, which made the entire book a yearning to how things were (with slightly rose tinted glasses, some exceptions), instead of a thrilling story about time-travel.

Not the best I've read. Not the worst. Distinctly average.
