really liked it

The word "sprawling" comes to mind, and indeed, that's what this book is -- though it's also a tightly wound nest of yarn, where every piece is attached to every other through knots if not natural relationships. The cast is so complex I had to draw a map, and was still surprised to find that every new character was related to the older characters in at least two ways.

This book was three mysteries wrapped into one long story, and I thoroughly enjoyed every wacky minute of it.

Ruby Jenn, I read Bleak House when PBS did a miniseries about it, which was good but the book is so much better. Long, though. Now I sometimes see references to some legal quagmire as "Jarndyce & Jarndyce" and at last know what it's about.

Kristen I would recommend the PBS miniseries, too, though I haven't read the book. (Maybe after law school?) But Gillian Anderson was great!

Jenn I've had the miniseries recommended by a number of good sources, including you two, so it's definitely on my list to watch.

It's a great law school companion, Kristen!
