I liked Feathers but it wasn't my favorite novel by Jacqueline Woodson. I thought the beginning was really strong as she has an incredible talent for making you feel like a real 11-year-old kid is telling you this story. BUT... I felt like this particular story was not developed enough. I think it had a lot more potential. I felt like she rushed through the middle part of the book. I would have liked to have gotten to know Jesus Boy a bit more and I wished there were more scenes between Frannie and her mom and Frannie and her brother. There were a lot of good ideas there that could have been taken to another level.
