I never would have given this book another glance in the bookstore if it hadn't been for the fact that I was able to read the first chapter of it at the literary blog, The Elegant Variation, [http://marksarvas.blogs.com/elegvar/]. From the first sentence ("We were fractious and overpaid."), I was hooked.

The unique tense (first person plural) was a little off-putting at first, but then became unnoticeable after a while (until the middle of the book where there is an entire section written in third person).

This book is sad and funny at the same time and if you've ever worked in an office that was downsizing, you can certainly sympathize with the plight of the various characters as they struggle to look busier than the next guy in an effort to escape the proverbial axe.
