I love books that make me think, and this collection of essays on art left me pondering deep subjects night after night.

A few of the ideas and questions brought up:

The oil painting as the primary art form of materialism, and the way it has been supplanted by photography.

The value of an original work of art in the age of instant reproduction.

The distinction between a nude figure and a naked figure in art.

The differing perspectives and purposes of the oil painting and the modern advertisement, and how the two forms are related.
