Perfectly captures spring in New England as it goes from the brown of March to the brown of April to the brown of early May and finally to that amazing day when it is finally green. A young boy and his dog approach the spring with confidence, planting and waiting, and noticing. The illustrations by Erin Stead and lovely and show the activity commencing all around as even the ants under ground are getting ready for action. A terrific picture to share with young kids in northern climates.
