This period piece is a laugh-riot to read. My have things changed since my grandmother got it when she married in 1927!

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads I found my mother in the kitchen, reading it and howling with laughter. So I've just started it.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads I am reliably informed, in the first chapter, that one can still have "dainty" meals despite having a servantless kitchen.

Linda Taylor I, too, have laughed until snorting while reading this book. It's not the's the interstitials explaining, for example, how at breakfast the homemaker should have a "serene" manner to set the tone for the day.
