I seldom read non-fiction. A friend gave this book to me because she couldn't get any of ther other friends to read it and she wanted to have someone to discuss the book with. I enjoyed this book. I thought the author did a wonderful job of intermeshing the science behind HeLa and the real woman who unknowingly contributed so much to science. I think the explanations of the science of cells was explained in such a way that pretty much anyone could understand it. I was also really kind of surprised to learn how black people were treated by many in the medical profession back in the 50's.
