did not like it
bookshelves: didnt-finish

Yeah, I get that it was written by a 15 year old (or whatever) but...it reads like it was written by a 15 yr old (or whatever)

Maybe the series gets better as the author ages and his talents improve, but I found the first in the series to be pretty trite and predictable.

Audrey I don't usually read fantasy books and I liked it, but I really don't have much to compare it to.

Meghan Nope- I didn't think it got any better at all. You didn't miss out.

Judah Good to know!

Dana The only positive thing that can be said about this book is that it's such a derivative, hackneyed, plagiarized pile of crud that it's basically a checklist for what NOT to do with your fantasy novel. Fantasy tropes cliffnotes. You might be able to break a window with it if you threw it with enough gusto, but only if you have it in hardcover.
