I downloaded the entire collection of Oz books, all 15, and I've not kept track of where I am in the series other than to come back to GoodReads and say "oh yes, I've read that."

My biggest peeve is how Dorothy and other Americans suddenly talk in dialect, when Dorothy spoke perfectly well in the first book. My second peeve, which is probably entire the fault of the person who digitized my copy, is that gnome is spelled Nome. While this spelling is consistent through the collection, I still wonder if it's Baum's affectation or the transcriber's.

While the key scenes were excellent, I wonder if some of the between bits were there because his editor didn't care enough to avoid boring the parents reading the books.

Some of the magical tools that Baum wrote about remind me of modern-day appliances. I think, if he were transported to today's world, he would have no problem using a computer or watching television.
