I felt like this book could've used a Lord of the Rings type guide in it. I'm talking maps, family trees, and language guides. This book was dense. I learned a lot about Chicago and its architecture, and between all those impressive name-dropping chapters, I was mostly intrigued by the murdering sociopath and his monopolization of a Chicago street block. It was well researched, but I think I would've liked it more if I read it with a book club. I'm sure if I ask a stranger on the El in Chicago, I may find that he/she's read it already.
