Trainwreck: The Women We Love to Hate, Mock, and Fear... and Why

I enjoyed the humor and voice in this book -- it's like your best girlfriend is talking to you in a no-nonsense, no BS type of way. I read this book for some research I'm doing and I generally don't log books I use in research because they tend to be dry and academic and tailored to an extremely narrow audience. This book has widespread appeal to anyone interested in delving into why we treat women-- generally celebrities, but it doesn't stop there -- so badly. Think Britney Spears, Rihanna, Whitney House, Amy Winehouse. These are modern examples, but Doyle also gives us examples from centuries past, such as Mary Wollstonecraft and Charlotte Bronte. Some of the historical case studies dragged at times, so that's the only reason why I gave this four stars instead of five. Overall I liked the book and it was useful for my research.
