really liked it

Anyone who is interested in planting a garden, living off the land, or even just eating good food should read this. It is a fascinating look at one family's effort to grow, buy, and eat locally for a year. As the author was already an accomplished writer, it is so much better written than a number of other books covering the same subject. And in the audio version, you get to hear her read her own words, which is a delight. Also contributing to the book and reading their parts are her husband, Stephen, and daughter, Camille. They each have their own perspectives which adds information to the enchantment of the book as a whole. As one who grows and reaps the benefits of a home garden I found it wonderful to read, but even if you aren't interested in doing that, it is a good story of a family working together to achieve a common purpose. The sections dealing with her younger daughter, Lily, who is quite the entrepreneur, are especially charming.
