When the Stars Go Dark

A powerful raw one-page prologue pulls us into this mystery. When San Francisco Detective Anna Hart’s child dies, her marriage falls apart. She’s an expert in finding lost children and has interviewed family members who have lost a loved one, but this time it’s different. To come to terms with her grief, she returns to Mendocino and ends up on the trail of a fifteen-year-old missing girl. Searching for the missing teenager, she confronts her own past. This atmospheric story is based on a true crime, and the double-barreled ending gave me goose bumps. Because I thought the story dragged in the middle, I knocked it down a star. The Author’s Note is a must read. Wow.
